Today at Clear Spring school, the 1st through 4th grade students all began making small boxes with leather hinges. The photo at left shows Wyatt beginning to nail the back of his box to a side, and the photo below shows one of my demonstration boxes done to illustrate the techniques and show a finished product. The first and 2nd grade students are using theirs as "friendship boxes" to be given as gifts (to each other), and the 3rd and 4th are making treasure boxes in celebration of completing their study of westward expansion.
